 My passion to work with a cat of chocolate coloring started many years ago. Chocolate was not readily available in the Ragdoll breed at that time so I also worked with a breed called the Chantilly/Tiffany to get my “chocolate fix".
After five years of working with the rare Chantilly/Tiffany two things became apparent. First, the rarity of the breed itself was very frustrating as unrelated lines were not available and the Chantilly/Tiffany standard imposes strict limits on outcrossing and second, the breed consistently proved it has a very poor immune system. Due to that, I made a personal choice to close my program as I felt it was not beneficial to the breed or fair to the pet owner to keep producing cats with potential health problems.
The chocolate and lilac Ragdolls made their appearance just in the last few years and are gaining in popularity as there are many breeders and pet families alike who adore those particular shades of the crayon box.
It was not my goal to work with solid, non-pointed chocolate Ragdolls. I was only interested in the pointed variety until my first litter of solids was born. They were gorgeous little bundles of cocoa colored fun. I have finally once again filled my need for a chocolate fix and this time…our babies are blessed with good health and the wonderful Ragdoll temperament.
The chocolate, lilac, cinnamon and fawn are produced in both colorpoint with blue eyes (most widely known) and solid colors with gold eyes (up and coming in popularity). At this time we will only have cinnamon in “carriers” available for breeding soon. Acaramia Ragdolls is a sister site and extension of Emberhearth Ragdolls. I chose to showcase this program under a new cattery name and website to differentiate it from the more traditional Emberhearth program.
